Mission of the Murney Clinic:

To increase the access of mental health services to the underserved populations of Greene County and the surrounding counties in southwest Missouri

To provide masters and doctoral candidates of the School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute with applied service learning experiences.

About Us

Robert J. Murney, Ph.D., described himself as a man who “tried to always be understanding and compassionate with patients, family and friends.” He was born in Springfield in 1926 and lived here until he joined the Navy at the age of 17. He said his military career, which included service on the USS Missouri during World War II, was “the most defining moment of my life” and “helped determine who I am”.

About Us

The Murney Clinic currently acts as a hub for supervision of services delivered at other agencies. The Murney Clinic donates licensed psychologists time, psychological evaluation material and graduate student services to community agencies that serve various age groups, diverse ethnicity, cultures, and socioeconomic class.
