“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” - Margaret Mead US anthropologist (1901 - 1978)
Ozarks Marriage Matters (OMM) began when a small group of concern citizens came together in September 2002 to begin discussing what they might do to promote a more marriage-friendly environment. After many meetings, several volunteers step forward to serve as a board devoted to promoting healthy relationships. This group became known as Ozarks Marriage Matters. OMM filed for non-profit corporation status in Missouri.
OMM has continued to work in our community to strengthen and support healthy marriages and families. In addition to promoting relationship education, OMM again joined with Forest Institute to pursue a federal grant. In October 2006, OMM joined Forest Institute, ADsmith Communications, and the Pregnancy Care Center in receiving a five-year grant to promote healthy marriages and relationships in 29 counties of Southwest Missouri.
